The McDonald Family
Patti Ann, Conor and Steven McDonald
In 1986, NYPD Detective Steven McDonald was shot and paralyzed in the line of duty, leaving him a quadriplegic. Despite his injury, Steven has emerged as a strong leader in the community. He is currently a noted public speaker on behalf of the NYPD and addresses the value of human life and violence issues. Patricia Ann has served on the Board of Trustees in the Village of Malverne, NY and was elected to the office of the Mayor in 2007. Steven and Patricia Ann’s son, Conor, is a graduate of Chaminade High School and Boston College. Last year he volunteered at a Denver shelter for runaways and abused youth. He was recently sworn in to the NYPD, following in his father’s footsteps, 24 years to the day after his father was shot. The entire McDonald Family has dedicated their lives to public service.
